Applixware Office for Linux is a comprehensive suite of productivity applications designed for the Linux desktop. The open source scripting and development tools enable both novice and advanced users to adapt and extend Applixware Office features and capabilities to suit the way that they work.

Applix has up-to-date interoperability with Microsoft Office 2000 and more. It has the ability to view and edit documents in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with support for WordPerfect, Lotus 1-2-3 and a cmprehensive list of graphics, text, and data formats. At the heart of Applixware Office is a powerful architecture which provides true visual application development. This is the very same environment upon which the rest of Applixware itself is built.

The application development environment includes "Builder" and "ELF". "Builder" is an object-oriented rapid application toolset with a graphical IDE and user interface development tools. "ELF" (Extension Language Facility) is a powerful scripting language ideal for small programming tasks and automation of often-used keystrokes.

These visual programming tools have been released by Applixware as LGPL open source, and are available both with Applixware 5.0 and seperately for download.
