This is a dual speed 10/100 Megabit/sec PCI bus network card. It contains an RJ-45 connector for 10base-T (twisted pair). This board contains a bootrom and is fully configured and ready to boot an operating system from the network (using software from the Linux Terminal Server Project). The user need only install the card in the system, configure the server with the MAC address, power up and the workstation will boot from the server.
Easy of use is the most important feature of the DLW-S100B adapter regardless of the type of PC that is used. The DLW-S100B is designed for use with software from the Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP) www.ltsp.org. After inserting an adapter in the computer configuration is a breeze with the workstation administration tools on the server.
Manufactured by SMC, the DLW-S100B is one of the most affordable Fast Ethernet PCI network cards on the market today. To eliminate I/O bottlenecks, this card supports 32-bit data transfer mode and early receiveand transmit interrupt. And, it features bus-master architecture to reduce CPU utilization. The result is increased throughout. In addition, this 32-bit card offers the flexibility of dual-speed operation. Its media supports Auto-Negotiation, so the optimum operating mode-100 or 10 Mbps and half or full duplex is selected automatically.
